Phase 9 Two Weeks to Operational Tracking- Counter Evasion, Ambush, and IED's while Tracking
Online Class - Phase IX- Counter Evasion, Ambush, and IED's while Tracking
Once the tracking K9 is proficient at its job and the handler understands the subtle nuances of the proximity alert and the tactical team can actively work in front of and around the the tracking K9 without it getting distracted, we are ready to delve into the dangerous arena of evasion tactics, ambushes, and IED's or booby traps on the trail. The simple fact of the matter is nobody really trains for this historically or in the present. Jeff has been training for these tactics for over 22 years and has pioneered a training program currently in use by numerous law enforcement agencies and the US Military. Track hard, track safe!
Participants who cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances may take a future course at no additional charge. All Tracking courses are for any potential tracking K9. This includes apprehension and non- apprehension.
The purpose of this class is to work the dog into changes of environments and surfaces using our proven method of training. Learn how human scent pictures work on various surfaces and how to allow your dog to work them in a natural way.
Jeff's system is a natural training method using the dogs innate skills at tracking scent. Skills that are hardwired into the dog at birth and not something that can be replicated by humans. Jeff's philosophy is that we cannot train a dog to track as it already has this capability as soon as it crawling shortly after birth. If anything, human interpretation of this ability is often skewed and many training styles are often contradictory to Canid tracking instinct. Our job as handlers is to harness this natural ability and teach the dog to trail/ track in a variety of environments and to stay focused on one target at a time; scent discrimination.
Each class is approximately 2-2.5 hours long based on Q&A time after the powerpoint. The PowerPoint includes videos and diagrams of actual training exercises for each phase. Post presentation, Jeff will be available for up to 2 individual Q&A emails per phase and per student. Jeff's book is recommended reading prior to the class but not mandatory. You may obtain a copy directly from our store here or a kindle version on Amazon.
